Alexia Anders & Nikole Nah – Middle Of The Night Publication: April 29, 20,21 SCENE OPENS Emily Nash She is driving with Val (Alexia Anders), her best friend. Val is visiting her hometown, and is making her way to Emily to stay with them. Emily appears oddly defensive when Ethan, her stepbrother, is brought up. Val is stunned when Emily informs Val Ethan will be at home the weekend. Ethan was supposed not to be in town. Val smiles politely but her grin conceals some nervousness. CUT TO TITLE Emily later shows Val into her bedroom. Emily mentions to Val that Ethan moved back home and doesn’t have a spare room so Val will need to sleep in Emily’s bed. Val jokes that she doesn’t mind. Their lives have been filled with countless slumber parties, so it makes sense that they should continue this tradition. That is when the front door opens and shuts. Emily is instantly tense but not subtly. She glances quickly in the mirror and makes sure she is properly dressed. Val observes this and narrows the eyes. Ethan calls “EMILY?” You’re not there?’ Ethan gruffly asked. Emily says she’s in her own room. Ethan (Michael Swayze), meanwhile, opens the bedroom door. Ethan’s conversation with Emily shows his controlling nature as they chat. Val notices and becomes suspicious. Ethan leaves, and Emily helps Val get her suitcases unpacked. Emily smiles a strange, almost fake smile. Val carefully examines her.
