Although she has no idea of his identity, he insists that they need to speak to each other. Although she wants to run away from him, this stranger’s serious expression makes it clear that he is serious and that she needs to hear his views. When you get inside, you find out that Wendy’s parents were involved in a car crash that resulted in her death. It also turns out that Robert’s spouse was driving the car. Wendy is stunned and devastate when she learns the truth about Robert’s identity. Wendy feels that Robert is just as guilty as his wife because he was at the side of the passengers on that fateful morning. Surprisingly Robert feels exactly the same, that he is partially responsible for what happened. This is why he was there. His wife is still in jail so he wants Wendy to be free and to make amends. While Robert may seem sincere, Wendy isn’t able to forget her grief and hurt. It doesn’t matter what Robert does because it won’t bring back her parents. Although she isn’t ready to give up on him when she first meets him, she feels it will not be her last time seeing him. They develop an unusual friendship over the next few weeks. Robert offers to cook a meal for Wendy and then they take off. Wendy learns to accept the horrible tragedy that has befallen them and starts spending more time together. Instead, her resentment towards him is replaced by something more real: attraction.
